Possible about screen seems to confirm Epic 4G Gingerbread build in testing

Epic 4G Gingerbrad buildPreface this with the usual "It's possible to make a "custom" (read fake) about screen in 30 seconds on a rooted phone," but this about screen making the rounds today seems to confirm the story we broke a couple weeks ago that showed Gingerbread build ED12 for the Sprint Epic 4G is in testing. And it also goes along with a poorly photoshopped promo pic that's been making the rounds today, too.

Brief Mobile's source tells them it's got a goal of May 15 to finish up the Android 2.3.3 update, but the same source also says it won't be out before the EVO 3D, which might or might not be on June 5. So will we see a more recent build before then? It's certainly possible.

Us? We're taking all this with a pretty huge grain of salt until it's official. Because it's pretty much impossible to peg the date an update will start to push -- and even then there's no guarantee that the update won't be pulled for some reason, and we've seen early builds leak out week before.

So nobody get your hopes up just yet for anything official, and keep an eye on our build.prop Hall of Shame. Just sayin'.

How PayPal Can Help Where Close The Loop From Mobile Intent To Purchase

Why is eBay buying Where.com? It's all about trying to link mobile ads directly to payments. Where will fall under PayPal. The geo-location service and mobile advertising company already has millions of active users across many mobile platforms (it is stronger on Android than on the iPhone). Where serves up both recommendations for nearby places to places to eat, drink, play, or shop and geo-targeted ads. Its WhereAds run across more than 350 mobile apps and publishers, and reach 50 million people with 3 billion impressions a month. A few months ago, I had a pretty in-depth conversation with Where CEO Walter Doyle. He hinted at the direction he wanted to take Where. "The promise of mobile is on our doorstep," he told me. The ultimate goal is to close the loop "from intent to purchase," he said. "Whether you are searching, or you get deals or relevant display ads that drives you to a product or opportunity." To do that, Where needs to offer local merchants "reach, relevancy, and redemption." It's got reach with its WhereAds, and is working on relevancy with its mobile recommendations. And now it can solve the redemptions challenge with PayPal. "Advertising of the future is really participating in the commercial event," Doyle told me. "We make money when you make money. We want to participate in that on mobile because that is where commerce will occur."

Watch: Beyonc? Moves Her Body To ?Get Me Bodied?

Watch: Beyonc? Moves Her Body To ?Get Me Bodied?

Beyonc?, who is about to unleash a new album of new material very soon, has teamed up with First Lady Michelle Obama to produce a short video for her Let?s Move! campaign that seeks to battle childhood obesity with physical fitness. Bey used her song Get Me Bodied for the new clip ? proving that the song is still a hot jam ? and that she can still dance her buns off!

If there is one way to get kids active, it would be to have Beyonc? come to their school and dance with them in the cafeteria. Absent that actually happening, I think this video might do the trick ? but not as well. I do love that Bey teamed up with First Lady Obama for this new campaign.

Video: High-Flying Skiers Flee Man-Made Avalanche

It?s not often you find yourself in a situation thousands of feet above the French Alps, with a parachute strapped to your back, and you?re supposed to intentionally start an avalanche.

Well, extreme skiers Matthias Giraud and Stefan Laude are living a more adventurous life than you or I, as that?s exactly what they got to do recently.

Yes, it?s basically a commercial for GoPro?s head-mounted HD camera rigs, which filmed the entire event from both Giraud and Laude?s perspectives, but that bit of commercialism doesn?t make the jump any less death-defying. (Although, the mere fact that we have the video proves they made the jump without injury, so that should take some of the drama out of it.)

As you might expect, you?re going to want to go full screen on this one. It?s all pretty tame at the start, with Giraud and Laude poking at the snow with their poles, but when they leap off the rock face a minute in and start parachuting over the snow-covered valley, that?s when you should expect to find your stomach nestled snugly in your throat.

And when they both turn around to catch a glimpse of the raging avalanche behind them, well, just make sure you?re sitting down.
