Last week we took a poll of the biggest obstacles you face with staying on track with your health and fitness goals. The following are some helpful tips to get you back on track!

  • Diet-? I?ll admit this can be a hard one! However, the best tool is knowledge. Do some research and follow these tips to stay on track.
    • Drink more water- being hydrated will make you less hungry and it is good for your overall health.
    • Eat more lean proteins- protein will help you to reach satiety and stay there. For a snack try one of our 20/20 protein bars or a 20/20 protein shake with peanut butter and some fruit.
    • Track your meals- Writing down everything you eat throughout the day will help you to manage your diet. Plus when you start to add up the calories, that Grande white chocolate mocha might not seem worth it!
    • Try and limit sugar intake - have you ever felt hungry even after you ate a big meal? That?s because sugar or refined carbohydrates will ultimately make you hungrier. Refined carbohydrates raise blood-sugar levels, setting up an insulin surge that drives blood sugar down again, causing you to be hungry. That insulin spike also interferes with leptin, the hormone secreted by fat cells that should tell the body to stop eating.
    • If you are still having a difficult time with your diet our registered dietitians would be more than happy to sit down with you and develop a customized plan.?
  • Motivation/ Exercise Habits- If you?re tired and stressed it can be hard to stay motivated to work out! However, the hardest part is to stop making excuses and to convince yourself to go to the gym.? Once you get to the PRO Sports Club you?ll find the workout will be the easy part! Here are some tips to stay motivated:
    • Sign up for a free Get Started with one of our personal trainers at the PRO Sports Club Front Desk.
    • Get a work out partner, personal trainer, or try a group fitness class- sometimes it?s as simple as switching up your routine.?
    • Remember your goals and remind yourself of them daily.
    • Reward yourself- once you have reached one of your goals don?t forget to give yourself a reward, after all you have worked hard! Get a massage, new running shoes, or workout outfit after you have reached one of your goals.
  • Work Schedule/ Time management- Does it always feels like you are on the run? It might seem that you barely have enough time between work, family, more work, kids, more work? Although we all have busy lives it is extremely important to stop and take a little time for yourself!
    • It?s only an hour- take an hour twice a week and give it back to yourself! Your body and mind will thank you! Or if an hour is too much try a 30 minutes three times a week.
    • Working out actually gives you more energy. When you work out you release endorphins which naturally improves your mood and gives you more energy.
    • If possible try to exercise during your lunch or middle of the day. You will come back to work refreshed and with more energy.
  • Expense- eating right and having a personal trainer can add up! Here are some tips if you are on a budget:
    • Partner Training- grab a workout buddy and sign up for partner training. This is a great way to train and now you have a friend to hold you accountable!
    • Try our Group fitness classes. We offer a variety of classes check out our class schedule and try one today!
  • Back/knee Problems and Injuries
    • When your usual routine is interrupted by a setback, like an injury or the flare-up of a chronic condition, the PRO Sports Club physical therapists can help. Our onsite, state-of-the-art Physical Therapy Clinic is open early and late, offering the latest equipment and techniques - and a compassionate, highly trained team of therapists.
    • Take it easy and don?t overwork yourself- it is easy to reinjure yourself so make sure you stick to low impact exercises- try our AMTs for a high calorie low impact workout
